About Elena’s Process:

HANDMADE: Her process is one that gives life to authentic products, created her seamstresses, with particular attention to detail. All Handmade in Sicily.

SUSTAINABILITY: Printed with a waterless printing process and OEKO Tex certified pigments, with steam finishing on natural and GOTS certified fabrics, together with responsible and plastic-free production processes. Zero plastic – 100% sustainable.

Why OEKO-TEX? It is a globally recognized chemical safety certification that tests finished textile and leather products for up to 350 harmful substances, including formaldehyde, azo dyes, and phthalates.

What is Waterless Printing and Why it matters? Waterless pigments are colorants applied to textiles without using water in the dyeing or printing process and are designed to eliminate or drastically reduce water consumption, wastewater generation, and chemical discharge in textile coloration. No polluted wastewater discharge, preventing contamination of rivers and ecosystem. Lower energy consumption by removing the energy-intensive drying step and reducing heating need. Reduced chemical use compared to traditional dyeing, lowering both cost and environmental impact and greater color precision and durability (colorfastness) in some cases. Look for more information for these processes here- https://www.textilesresources.com/ and OEKO-TEX®

Why GOTS certified Fabric? GOTS is the Global Organic Textile Standard that applies to organic fibers (like organic cotton, wool, silk, or linen) and ensures they are produced under: Environmental standards: No synthetic pesticides or GMOs in farming; strict wastewater treatment, energy use, and waste management rules. Technical standards: Prohibition of toxic chemicals such as heavy metals, azo dyes, and formaldehyde; safe dyeing and finishing processes as well as a Social criteria: Compliance with International Labour Organization norms — no child labor, fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for workers’ rights.
